Sumi(Japanese ink)

 

Sumi is painting tools used in Japan for many years. 

The soot which burned a pine and oil and was made is kneaded into a stiff dough with glue, and is dried. And it is rubbed and made using the inkstone with water. 

Although sumi is generally called "Chinese ink", Because sumi was invented by ancient China as for the reason, and it was told from Koguryo (ancient Korea) to Japan in the second half of the sixth century. Japanese-made sumi is called Waboku(Japanese ink), Chinese-made sumi is called Touboku(Chinese ink). Waboku differs in the feature from Touboku, respectively, because a climate has a difference.

 

I myself am mainly making using Waboku. 

 

 

墨(和墨)

 

墨(すみ)は、松や油を燃やし採取した煤(すす)を膠(にかわ)で練り固めて乾燥させ、水と共に硯(すずり)で擦り下ろした状態のです。一般的に墨は「チャイニーズインク」と呼ばれますが、その由来は墨が古代中国で発達し、六世紀後期に高句麗(古代朝鮮)から日本へと伝えられました。日本製の墨を和墨(わぼく)、中国製の墨を唐墨(とうぼく)と言います。私自身は主に和墨を用いて制作しています。和墨と唐墨とは気候風土の違いから特徴が異なります。

 

Washi (Japanese paper)

Japanese paper is the paper by the process of Japanese ancient times. 

Since the process of Japanese paper is handmade, it is rich in hygroscopicity compared with a foreign paper, and very strong. 

Paper technology was born by ancient China and told from Koguryo (ancient Korea) to Japan at the beginning of the seventh century. 

 

The paper technology of the traditional Japanese paper is still made as original Japanese paper which had the various features all over the Japan country. 

 

 

 

和紙

 

和紙とは日本古来製法による紙のことです。和紙は手漉〔す〕きにより作られている為、洋紙と比べ吸湿性に富み非常に丈夫なものです。

製紙技術は古代中国で生まれ、七世紀初期に高句麗(古代朝鮮)から日本へと伝えられました。その伝統的な和紙の製紙技術は、日本全国各地で様々な特徴を持った独自の和紙として今も作られている
